An elderly woman in an old coat quietly opened the door of an expensive car dealership. Inside, it smelled of new cars and expensive perfume, and the shiny vehicles were lined up like at an exhibition. She looked around a bit confused and slowly began walking between the cars, gently running her fingers over the bodywork.
The manager noticed her immediately. At first, he pretended to be busy, but he still watched her out of the corner of his eye. The woman looked poor, her clothes were worn, and her hands were trembling. She didn’t fit into this place.
She stopped in front of an expensive SUV, looked at it for a long time, and then said quietly:
— I want to buy this car.
The man smirked. He stepped closer, crossed his arms, and looked at her with clear irritation.
— And how do you plan to pay?
The woman raised her eyes but said nothing. Then he leaned a little closer to her, and open contempt was now clearly heard in his voice:
— Ma’am, we don’t do business with retirees. Not even on installments. You simply won’t live long enough. And besides… you should go home and take a bath first. You smell like poverty.
